A lot of Bakers are buried in the St. Paul Lutheran Church cemetery. Heironymuse and Phillip Peter were Elders in this church and helped buy and bring the first organ west of the Allegheny Mountains form Germany in 1795. Some of the sons moved to Uniontown, Penn. John Nicholas, Melchison, and Phillip about 1770. Phillip later went to Washington Co. PA. and is buried there. John Nicholas (III) BAKER³²⁵ was born on 5 April 1770 in Uniontown, Fayette Co., Pennsylvania.³²⁶ He died on 28 February 1846 at the age of 75 in Mannington, Marion Co. W.V.. He was buried in Baker/Kendal/Jones Cem. Dents Run, Mannington WV.. John and Barbara were married about 1793 in Pennsylvania. After the War of 1812, they and their children moved to Washington Co., now Marion Co., West Virginia on Buffalo Creek where he used Virginia State Land Warranties to buy 100 acres. He and his wife spent the rest of their lives on the farm and are buried across the hill in the Kendall-Baker Cemetery. There are markers on both graves.

During the oil boom of 1896 one of the largest oil wells east of the Mississippi was drilled on this farm.

John and Barbara were typical German farmers, and, although the farm didn't have very much bottom land they cleared the forests and made a very prosperous farm with cattle and sheep which used to be driven to Baltimore, MD.

The original Nicholas Baker, Sr. cabin was still standing in 1966 and occupied up to 1961.

John Nicholas (Jr.) BAKER³²⁷ was born on 1 April 1748 in Winterlingen, Wurtengurt, Germany. He died in 1790 at the age of 42 in Uniontown, Fayette Co., Pennsylvania. Served with Col. Crawford when the Indians defeated them at Little Sandusky (Ohio) on Jun 4, 1782. The Indians captured Col Crawford, his son and his on-in-law and killed all three. Col. Crawford was burned at the stake. There were about 600 men in Crawford's command. Several were captured and tortured and some escaped after capture and several were killed in battle. The rest scattered and made their way back to Uniontown, PA. Nicholas Baker was one of the lucky ones.

Nicholas moved to Green Township in what is now Green Co. PA., but was at that time Washington County. He died there around 1790.
