age 0-4; on page 437 (Taylor is a very common name) Howell Taylor and
Richard Taylor are probably no relation to our kin but I noticed them
because Mary Axley b. 1792/3 and two of her dtrs married Taylors. on
page 438 Patrick Moore is probably not relevant but I noticed it because
on 9 Dec 1800 in Livingston Co KY, Joshua Moore married Tabitha
Axley, also on page 438: Thomas Stokely: male age 40-49, two aged 10-
14, three aged 5-9, one aged 0-4, female(as best I can read because of
the confusing "bleed through" from other side of the old page) one aged
40-49, one aged 15-19, two aged 0-4. Notice two "unknown" Stokely
children never before mentioned by anyone to me: a boy slightly younger
than Jehu and a girl slightly older than Susan! Probably these died
before
1850, but it's always eye-opening to discover unknown kids that we'd
overlooked! Continuing with page 438: Nimrod Axly: males 30-39, 5-9,
females 15-19, 5-9 and 0-4. C T? Mathews name appears in the midst of
our family, might be related somehow. James Axly : male aged 30-39,
females 20-29 and 0-4. Note that there is another james axley entry in
1830 TN census--in or near Monroe co. in eastern TN--that James is
undoubtedly the famous preacher born ca 1776/7 died 1837 there in
monroe co TN area.
William Haynes name appears in midst of our family and may be related
somehow. Mary Axly mlaes aged 20-29, 15-19, 5-9, females aged 40-49,
15-19, 10-14. My recollection is that on page 439 or 440 appears a
NEAL entry--of interest because Thomas Stokely's mom supposedly
named Neal; Parents: James AXLEY and Mrs. James AXLEY.

AXLEY SURNAME RESEARCHER: only Axley surname researcher I've ever found was
letter of 16 Aug 1987 from Patricia Reno Miller 1605 N. Willow Oak Dr,
Longview TX 75601. She has a James and Lemueanna AXley of
VA-KY-IL-TN-TX who had kids Rev. James Jr, Robt, Pleasant
and maybe a sister who married John Gilliland of TN;

1830 CENSUS HAYWOOD CO TN LDS FILM 0024534:
1830 U.S. census population schedules there near the Axly
names. To summarize LDS film 0024534: page 436 Robert Axly at
extreme bottom of page: males one age 20-29, female age 20-29 and two
age 0-4; on page 437 (Taylor is a very common name) Howell Taylor and
Richard Taylor are probably no relation to our kin but I noticed them
because Mary Axley b. 1792/3 and two of her dtrs married Taylors. on
page 438 Patrick Moore is probably not relevant but I noticed it because
on 9 Dec 1800 in Livingston Co KY, Joshua Moore married Tabitha
Axley, also on page 438: Thomas Stokely: male age 40-49, two aged 10-
14, three aged 5-9, one aged 0-4, female(as best I can read because of
the confusing "bleed through" from other side of the old page) one aged
40-49, one aged 15-19, two aged 0-4. Notice two "unknown" Stokely
children never before mentioned by anyone to me: a boy slightly younger
than Jehu and a girl slightly older than Susan! Probably these died
before
1850, but it's always eye-opening to discover unknown kids that we'd
overlooked! Continuing with page 438: Nimrod Axly: males 30-39, 5-9,
females 15-19, 5-9 and 0-4. C T? Mathews name appears in the midst of
our family, might be related somehow. James Axly : male aged 30-39,
females 20-29 and 0-4. Note that there is another james axley entry in
1830 TN census--in or near Monroe co. in eastern TN--that James is
undoubtedly the famous preacher born ca 1776/7 died 1837 there in
monroe co TN area.
William Haynes name appears in midst of our family and may be related
somehow. Mary Axly mlaes aged 20-29, 15-19, 5-9, females aged 40-49,
15-19, 10-14. My recollection is that on page 439 or 440 appears a
NEAL entry--of interest because Thomas Stokely's mom supposedly
named Neal;

which is about when Mary Axley married Thomas Stockely. As I recall the
Stokeley Family lived on the French Broad River in Cocke Co.TN;
James was born in Cumerland Co. VA, I believe Mary AxleyTaylor's 1850 census
says she was born VA;
Sweetwater Book cites Rev. R.N. Price, Vol 2 of Holston Methodism;
Cassandra Vaughan of NY jan 1995 says James Jr was preaching in Johnson Co
IL in 1811;
The age is presumably from report of age at death, but LDS microform 6048430
pages 275, 282, 285 imply birth ca 1785, calling him ca. 1802 "youth","child"
among the first 6 words to describe James Axley at that time;

IS PROBABLY THE ORIGIN OF statement on p. 289 of 1990 Stokely Stuff&Stock
that the Cocke Co James Gilliland's wife was a sister of the wife of
James Axley a leader in the Zion Church--sounds like this James Axley
but could possibly refer to the James Axly in 1830 census Haywood Co TN; Parents: James AXLEY and Mary PLEASANT.
