Maria Elizabetha DIEDERLE667,668,669,670,671 was born in 1753 in Germany. She died about 1790 at the age of 37 in Washington County, North Carolina (now Tennesee), USA. She was buried in 1790 in Old Dutch Meeting House Cemetery, Washington Co., NC/TN, USA. I received a copy of this information from E R Edmondson who has had some of her research published. I am including her marriage record and time line information. Complete publication and source detail may be gotten from her. Anyone interested, may contact me and I will provide her Email address.
Marriage records, Volume II - 1761 - 1770 [Official record from St. Michael's and Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania follows:
Anno 1765, Febr.A.4 (entered the way appears in the handwritten script)
(First word cannot read - think is is, Matrimony) Proclamation Otto Rudolph Crecelius (next word cannot read) in Cohenzy (next word cannot read) Maria Elizabeth Diederlein (two words after her name are not clear). I am sending to my brother, who might be able to interrupt.
Time line for Otto Rudolph Crecelius in the American Colonies is as follows:
-- Rudolph, his second wife, Anna Ursala Gerlach, his son by his first marriage, and two children by Anna board a ship in Europe and sail to the American Colonies. It is assumed they landed in Philadelphia, since no supporting documents.
-- Anna Ursala Gerlach Crecelius died on 20 November 1765 and was buried in Friesburg, Maryland (Early Church Records of Salem County, New Jersey).
-- Rudolph Crecelius married Maria Elisabetha Diederle on 4 February 1766 at St. Michael's and Zion Lutheran Church in Philadelphia (documented source clearly show the name as Maria Elisabeth Diederlein, so we have another puzzle - Elisabeth or Elisabetha, Diederle or Diederlein?).
-- Maria Barbara Crecelius is christened 24 March 1747 at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick, Frederick County, Maryland (documented in Maryland German Church Records).
-- Rudolph Crecelius is a witness to communions of Germans who are becoming naturalized in Maryland on 7 May 1867 (documented in Colonial Maryland Naturalizations)
-- Rudolph Crecelius is a schoolmaster at Frederick and most likely Monacacy in Maryland (documented in History of Emmitsburg)
-- Rudolph and Maria Elisabetha are sponsors for Johann Dieterle daughter Maria Elisabetha. Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick, Maryland (document source in Maryland German Church Records).
-- Catharina Barbara Crecelius in born 22 March 1769 in Frederick County, Maryland (document source from Maryland German Church Records).
-- Loudoun County, Virginia, 28 November 1770 - Rudolph Crecelius is a witness to the Jacob Everhard Will (documented Abstracts Wills of Loudoun County, Virginia 1757 - 1800.
-- Loudon County, Virginia, 8 April 1771 - Rudolph Crecelius proved the Will of Jacob Everhard in court (source was told to writer who has not seen the original document).
-- Frederick, Frederick County, Maryland - birth of Rudolph Isaac Crecelius born 31 March 1772 and baptism on 29 April 1772 are recorded in the Evangelical Lutheran Church - Maryland German Church Records.
-- Dorretha "Dolly" Crecelius is born (no documented source found). I can see where fellow researcher are getting the name Dorretha for our Dolly, but since they do not have documentation and my Aunt Myrna Lashbrook May, soon to be 90 years young and sharp as a tack, remembers seeing her name in family records listed only as Dorothy or Dolly I will stay with our version. In fact to quote Ms. Myrna we never had a Doretha or Dorretha in our family, only Dorothy's. End of story...someone will have to send a documented proof before we change facts on our line, since Myrna's sister was named after our Dorothy "Dolly" Crecelius.
-- Rudolph Crecelius is recorded in Pine Lutheran Church, Shenandoah County, Virgina as godparent of Phillip Rausch born 1 June 1774. This is the same document that records Jacob A. Crecelius birth in 1783. It is known that Rudolph had left Virginia, going to North Carolina (now Tennessee), it is not clear why why the entire family is recorded in the Pine Lutheran Church records of Shenandoah County, Virginia.
-- Culpepper County, Virginia - Rudolph Crecelius is the sponsor for Margaret Diehl who was christened 12 March 1775 (Hebron Church Register 1750-1825).
-- Culpepper County, Virginia - Petition of German Congregation on 22 October 1776. Rudolph Crecelius is a signer (History of the Hebron Lutheran Church, Madison County, Virginia 1717to 1907).
-- John Crecelius born 14 October 1777 and christened at Hebron Lutheran Church 30 November 1777 (Hebron Chruch Register).
-- Magaret Crecelius is born (no backup documentation)
-- Rockingham County, Virginia - Rudolph Crecelius granted land on 12 December 1782 (Abstracts of Land Grant Surveys 1761 - 1791).
-- Jacob A. Crecelius is born 15 January 1783 in Virginia. He was baptized in September of 1783 (Source is Old Pine Church Baptisms 1781 - 1828, Mill Creek, Virginia, Shenandoah History Publishers 1987).
-- Washington County North Carolina/Tennessee (research both states due to boundary changes) - Rudolph Crecelius Will is probated in November of 1787. Washington County, Tennessee (now North Carolina) - County Clerk's Office Jonesborough Will book August 1779 - February 1857, shows probate and claims against Rudolph's estate.
