This lord having adhered to the interest of the Queen, Mortimer, and Prince Edward, afterwards the third of that name, furnished "the only precedent," says Smith, "of a peer being tried by knights, as the peers would have been both judges and jurors." He first assumed a mitre for his crest. He was summoned to parliament from 1329 to 1360.
