Parents: . Spouse: Pleasant EWELL. Elizabeth CLAPPER and Pleasant EWELL were married on 16 March 1843 in Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois, USA. Marr: Listed in the Nauvoo Rest. Records My best guess is that Pleasant married Mary, after Elizabeth Clapper Smith left Council Bluffs. Vera Tillman, in her book, "How Deep My Roots," Page 17, stated that her ancestors, left Council Bluffs, in Aug, 1846 and settled the town, Plum Hollow, now known as Thurman, Iowa. This group of woman, who's husbands inlisted in the Morman Battalion, left a month after their husbands. I suspect Elizabeth left with that group of women, as she was a resident there with her children. See "Forney's Five Family Records" book, page 34. Son, William F. A leader of the barons in the early stages of the Barons' War against King Henry III, he deserted the baronial side in 1265, thus helping to ensure a royal victory at the Battle of Evesham. Two years later he changed sides again, captured London, and forced the king to accept a negotiated settlement. In 1290 he married Joan of Acre, a daughter of Henry's successor, King Edward I. When Gilbert de Clare, 10th earl of Clare (1291-1314), died childless, the male line of the Clares came to an end.
