POSSIBILITIES: RE: Sarah Naomi Carr: Our family has two stories. One is that she went to live with Emily and Reuben Cooley and the other is that Sarah and Oliver took her. Neither story has been easy to document. She is not listed with either family until the 1850 Census for Great Salt Lake City when she is shown with Sarah, Elijah and Levi (FHL#0,025,540) though not as a Carr. On the 1860 Census for the Salt Lake 17th ward there is a Sarah Carr just beneath the family of Orson Hyde but she would have been married to Jesse Holt by then.

Sarah Naomi's parents left Girard, Erie County, Pennsylvania, probably in February, 1836, after they joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and went to Kirtland, Ohio, along with her grandparents, Oliver and Sarah Harmon. They stayed in Kirtland, Ohio, until the spring of 1838, before they started for Missouri.
Her parents got as far as Henry County, Indiana, took sick and died. This left Sarah and her brother in the care of their grandparents. They stopped in Springfield, Sangamon county, Illinois, where they lived until the spring of 1842, then moved into Nauvoo, Hancock, Illinois and were there through all the persecutions of the Saints. Sarah was baptized in 1843.
Her grandfather, uncle, and her brother died in 1843. At the age of thirteen, Sarah Naomi crossed the Plains with her Grandmother. They were in Heber C. Kimball's Wagon Company and arrived in the Great Salt Lake Valley on 19 Oct 1848.
They lived in Salt Lake for some time where Sarah worked in different homes to earm money for clothes. She moved to Spanish Fork, Utah, where she met and married Jesse Payton Holt on 30 Nov 1856. They built a two-room adobe home in Spanish Fork.
In the early years of their marriage, they had trouble with the Indians and they lost their crops to the grasshoppers in 1860.
Sarah served as a Relief Society teacher for several years. She was gifted as a mother and nurse and made all of her own medicine. She nursed many of the prominent people of Spanish Fork.
After her children were married, she went from home to home to care for her children and grandchildren. She died of heart trouble in 1903, at the age of sixty-eight.
