Eliza was born on the Island of Trinidad i nthe Caribbean where her father, John Henry Bromwich, was a Private with the British Army. He resigned because of sickness and the family returned to England. They settled in Leicester. The 1841 British census shows her living at Pringle Lane in St. Margaret's parish with her parents and half-brother.

Eliza was ten years old when her family, beginning with her older brother, joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was baptized 29 May 1844 by John G. Wilson and confirmed the same day by Thomas Margetts. They became members of the Leicester branch. Her granddaughter, Sarah Killarnia Moore Jackman said:
"She was born in Indies...and then they came. I don't know the story behind how they went to England, but they did. And I know she said when the missionaries came to England that their rations were so meager, that sometimes it would be just a crust and some tea, or a cup o' tay she called it, and she always had to have her tay and they would shove everything back in the cupboard and clean it up when they'd see the missionaries coming because they didn't want them to know how poor they were. And they were converted in England and then she came to America and crossed the plains to Utah, but I don't know the dates of any of it. She walked most of the way. She was only a young ... she came with a family and she said she didn't ride a step of the way, but the woman rode in the wagon, but she didn't. I guess she had a pretty hard life. I don't know anything about her life up until I heard about she and Grandpa."

When Eliza was eleven, she began working in the cotton mills, winding shuttles and spinning to help her family. Later in life, Eliza became deaf, probably because of the horrendous noise in the mills. Her father died in 1846 after a lingering illness which left Eliza to support her mother and her niece and hephew whose parents had died.

She was twenty-one when the four set sail from Liverpool on 22 Apr 1855 on the ship, Samuel Curling. They arrived at New York Harbor on 22 May 1855. From there, they caught a train to Pittsburgh, the steamboat, Amazon, down the Ohio to the Mississipi, arriving at St. Louis on June 2. Eliza's family joined a company of Saints under Captain Milo Andrus and reached Salt Lake Valley 24 Oct 1855. They became members of the Salt Lake 18th ward.

Her mother remarried and Eliza moved to North Ogden with her mother and new stepfather. On 22 Feb 1857, Eliza gave birth to an illegitimate son and named him John Henry Bramwich for her father. She was given a Patriarchal blessing by Charles W. Hyde on 12 Jun 1857. Eliza married Joseph Tyrrell at the Endowment House in Salt Lake City on 8 Mar 1858 and became his plural wife. On 26 Dec 1858, Eliza gave birth to a daughter, Henrietta. Eliza's mother died in 1859 and the same year, Eliza's marriage ended in divorce. Joseph took the baby from her and she did not see her again until she was grown and about to be married.

She married Alpheus Amuleck Harmon on 1 Feb 1860 in North Ogden. Their daughter, Harriet, was born later that year. They had moved to Providence in Cache county, Utah by the time their daughter, Almeda was born. Alpheus was a freighter and made several trips East during those years. Eliza was living with his cousin, Appleton Harmon when the child was born and she was named for his wife, Elmeda. In 1863, another girl. Susan, was born. Eliza and Alpheus divorced in 1865. She said he deserted her and provided no support., but his version disagreed. He never married again. Eliza married John Riddle 1 Aug 1866 and they had a daughter, Eliza, in 1868 in North Ogden. That same year, her husband and son went to gather logs in Weber Canyon and on the way home, the load tipped and her son, Johnny, was struck in the head and killed. In 1870, they are listed in the census in Huntsville, east of Ogden.

Eliza's daughter, Susan died in 1875 and her husband died 12 Apr 1887. On 18 Feb 1892, Eliza married William Orson Lee. She died in 1907 at her daughter's home and is buried in the Joseph City Cemetery under the name, Eliza B. Harmon.
