It is situated on what was called Old Mill Green in Stratford (Now in the limits of Bridgeport, Fairfield Co., CT.) The frame is of hewn oak. It is sheathed with boards and shingled. It is on the corner of North Ave. and East Main St. in Bridgeport.

About the year 1700 he built there the house still known as the old Pixley Homestead, having it ready for occupancy at the time of his marriage. It is situated on what was called the Old Mill Green in Stratford, and is now within the limits of Bridgeport, CT. After the death of Peter Pixley the old homestead passed out of the family. It is now owned and occupied by Mrs. James Beach. It is at present (1900) in a remarkably good state of preservation. The frame is of solid oak, hewed out and built in the most substantial manner. It is sheathed with boards and shingled down to the ground. The original shingles are still on the sides, worn by the elements as thin as paper in many places. They were nailed on with wrought nails, evidently made at a blacksmith shop. There is a large brick chimney in the center of the house, connected with which are five fireplaces; an old fashioned brick oven in the kitchen and smoke box for smoking meat in the attic. The door at the end of what is called a 'mill door', cut across the center. There is an old iron or brass knocker on the upper part. The porch in the front and the kitchen part at the rear are of the present century, the rest of the house remains about as originally constructed. The grounds belonging to the place cover nearly an entire square in the city of Bridgeport, and are at the terminus of the East Main street electric line, on the corner of North Ave. and East Main street. The early compilers of this family history list as first born to William Pixlee a son, Alexander, but with no date of birth. McCallum notes that William came first to Stratford nearly 11 years before he built a house and married Grace Mitchell. It is suggested that William married first about 1690/91and had a son, Alexander, born about 1692. It is further suggested that the first wife died in childbirth or shortly thereafter, and the child was placed with another family. Or Grace Pixlee could have rejected this child as a step-son, whereupon he left home and enlisted in the expedition to capture Port Royal, Nova Scotia in 1710. At that time, he changed his name to Robert and was enlisted under the spelling of Pigsley, which spelling was adopted by his descendants.
