Magna Charta Sureties states that "Maud, dau of John de St Philbert" is mother ofLawrence Trussell. MCS does not indicate any sources for the line (131) that this generation is in, as they sometimes do. Ancestral Roots states that "probably dau of Sir John Stafford" is the mother of Lawrence Trussell. Since MCS and AR are edited and published by the same people, it is not often that they differ.

Since there seems to be quite a difference in the birth dates of the 2offspring I have. I put Miss Stafford as a 1st wife and mother of Maud, with Maud de St. Philbert as mother of Lawrence. Of course given the names (Maud), the order of wives and corresponding offspring could well be reversed.

A word about the name "St. Philbert". I find numerous references to the name "St. Philibert" and "St. Philbert". As far as I can determine they are two differentspellings for the same family. I find the same people spelled with either spelling. Even the original saint (died 684) that the family is presumed to be named after, I find spelled both ways. Parents: .
