JOHN (DE SAINT JOHN), LORD SAINT JOHN OF LAGEHAM, son and heir, said to be aged 15, June 1323, and 26 in February 1331/2, did homage for two-thirds of Stanton in 1331. The only record found of public activity on his part is a summons to him, as banneret, to be ready to go (abroad) with the King in August 1345. Perhaps he suffered through life from the ill-health, which prevented his crossing todo homage to the King on succeeding to his mother's lands, 1346.

He married, about 1320, Katharine, daughter of Geoffrey (DE SAY), LORD SAY, by Idoine, only daughter of William (DE LEYBURN), LORD LEYBURN; and died 8 April 1349.[j] His widow was living, 29 September 1355. [Complete Peerage XI:350, (transcribed by Dave Utzinger)]

According to Susan Johanson, Edmund is of Mulbarton, which places him with this family. He did not inherit all of the property, as his sisters were co-heirs, so perhaps there was an elder brother who died without issue, causing the property to be divided among the siblings; or maybe there was some illegitimacy involved in Edmund or his daughter. His sister Alice's husband, Sir William Hoo, was buried at Mulbarton. Alice was co-heir and sole heir of her mother Petronell (Pernel), so Edmund was son of a later marriage.
