"He started on a mission to the state of New York Oct. 10 [1842] was absent one year, during which time he with his fellow Laborer baptized 52 and gathered upwards of 40 to Nauvoo where he was ordained one of the seventies....."
This tells us that Joseph Mecham, who was married to Lucina Harmon, sister of Alpheus and Jesse P., went on a mission with his nephew, son of Jesse P. Harmon and was gone during the time that Alpheus died while returning from his mission in Nov. 1842.

In Nauvoo Baptisms for the Dead, Book A, we find Joseph Mecham being baptized for his grandfather, John Lord. Hannah Mecham was baptized for grandmother, Hannah Lord. Are these children of this Joseph being baptized for his first wife's relatives? OR was Hannah Joseph's first wife?
